How to install your OBD device
There are several ways to install your FMC003 device. Simply choose the option that best suits your needs.
Option 1:
Plugging in the device
If you prefer a very quick and easy installation, you can simply plug the device into the OBD-II port. The plug should fit seamlessly without having to force it.
Option 2:
Extender cable
On some vehicles, the OBD port is located in the footwell, which can be inconvenient. Using an extender cable offers a practical alternative. This cable
allows you to position the device in a more suitable location, such as the storage compartment under the steering wheel. Simply plug the cable into the OBD-II port, then connect the device to the other end.
Option 3:
Y-splitter cable
If you want to ensure that the device is securely installed in the vehicle and cannot be easily removed, we recommend installing it with a Y-splitter cable.
As this option requires several steps, we have created an easy-to-follow installation video for you.
Important note: As a precaution, we recommend that you mention the presence of a OBD device in your vehicle whenever you visit a workshop or dealer. This will enable the technicians to take this into account when troubleshooting, avoid potential misdiagnoses and prevent the device from being disconnected by mistake.
Installation with Y-splitter cable
The only tool you’ll need for the installation is a screwdriver.
For some vehicles, an adapter is also required. The box you received from us contains an adapter set from which you can select the correct adapter for your vehicle.
Adapter set
Here you will find an overview of which adapter is required for which type of vehicle. We recommend keeping any unused adapters for future vehicles in your fleet. If you are certain that they are no longer needed, please dispose of the adapters in the recycling bin.
Commissioning the OBD device
Once you have installed your new device in your vehicle, you will need to configure a few more settings in your WinFleet account. You can find all the relevant information in the following document.
