What is EcoLink?

EcoLink is designed for businesses that want to connect newer company vehicles to their fleet management platform without a traditional hardware installation.

Instead of fitting a GPS unit in the vehicle, EcoLink uses data that is already available through the vehicle’s built-in systems. Compatible vehicles are activated digitally and added to the company’s overall fleet view.

EcoLink supports 27 brands of passenger cars and vans, typically from around 2020 onwards. The amount and quality of available data depend on the brand, model and year of the vehicle.

What data can the vehicle share?

With EcoLink, your business can access selected vehicle data directly from the vehicle.

This includes:

• Vehicle location
• Start and stop times
• Mileage
• Fuel level
• Battery level for electric and hybrid vehicles

Not all vehicles provide the same data. It is therefore important to clarify your data requirements before choosing the solution.

When is GPS hardware still relevant?

EcoLink is not the perfect solution for every vehicle or every requirement.

Traditional GPS hardware may still be the better option for older vehicles, specialist vehicles or businesses that need features not available through the vehicle’s built-in data.

• Tachograph data
• Driver identification
• BLE tags
• More frequent position updates
